How to Enter
To enter the race, Mascots must complete and sign the official application form and return it, along with a photo of your mascot, to the racecourse by email, fax, or post, to the address shown by12 pm on Monday 29th September.
Rules of Entry
DISCLAIMER
1. Neither Huntingdon Racecourse as the Organiser nor the sponsor, nor any of their agents, employees, staff or
official representatives accept responsibility for loss or damage of costume or other personal property or the
death or injury to competitors. This does not affect participants' statutory rights.
CONDUCT
2. All participants agree that by entering the Mascot Grand National, they do so at their own risk and accept responsibility
for their own actions.
3. All participants agree to act in a safe manner so as to not put at risk the health and safety of others.
4. All participants agree to abide by the spirit and ethos of the Mascot Grand National.
5. Only genuine officially recognised mascots may participate in the race.
6. No past or present professional or affiliated athletes may compete.
7. The identity of each participant who is to run in the Mascot costume must be stated on the entry form. If there is to be
a change to this the Organisers must be informed at least 7 days before the race.
DRESS
8. All participants agree to wear recognised Mascot costumes including big feet. Mascots who do not wear big feet as
part of their costumes will be able to compete using alternative footwear permitted by the race organiser provided that
it is deemed safe and fair by the organiser. Mascots must wear race sponsor branding which will be provided on the
day.
9. Participants are not allowed to compete in spiked running shoes or any other footwear that may give them an
advantage over other competitors or are deemed to be unsafe by the organiser.
STARTING PROCEDURES
10. The organiser shall be exclusively responsible for determining starting time and procedures. This shall include:
- The place of start, and the finishing place.
- The number of starting locations or places.
- Mascots not wearing big feet will start 30 metres behind those who do wear big feet. They will have to jump one extra hurdle.
- The interruption, delay or abandonment of the race or the race meeting at which the Mascot Grand National
takes place.
The number of runners in the race. - No entrance after midday on Monday 29th September 2008.
DISQUALIFICATION
11. The organisers may disqualify entrants who in the organiser’s opinion fail to comply with any of the preceding clauses.
In addition participants will be automatically disqualified if they:
Act in a dangerous manner at any time before, during or after the race
Fail to start from the designated starting point or at the appointed time
Fail to jump all the fences in the race in the correct order
Lose any part of their costume or cause other competitors to lose theirs
Interfere with the running of any other competitor before or during the race
Interfere with any aspect of the smooth operation of the racecourse’s activities
Attempt to cheat before or during the race in order to improve their performance and overall position during
the race or affect the position and performance of other competitors
RESERVED RIGHTS
12. At the Organisers discretion each club, charity or business may have no more than 2 mascots running in the race.
13. The Organiser reserves the right to reject entries for any reason it may choose.
14. The Organiser reserves the right to amend the rules at its discretion in the interests of the race, the participants and the spectators.
15. The decisions of the Organiser are made in good faith and will be final in all cases and the Organiser will in no circumstances enter into any discussion about any aspect of any decisions made.
16. All runners must be over the age of 18 on the day of the race.
17. FAILIURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE MASCOT AND MAY ACT AS A BARRIER TO ENTRY FOR FUTURE RUNNINGS OF THE MASCOT GRAND NATIONAL.
